Los Angeles, the city of Angels (often shortened to L.A.), is a vibrant town, entertainment on each corner and with exhilarating nightlife. Well known because of Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Long Beach. The region around Los Angeles includes counties as Riverside, Bernardino and Ventura and is populated by more than 13 million people. Downtown Los Angeles is a great place for shopping, take a stroll around Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame or visit one of the many well maintained State Parks for a picnic to getaway from the crowds. Worth visiting Theme Parks are Disneyland (Anaheim) and Universal Studios Hollywood. A city this big has plenty of interesting musea and art galleries. Its warm sunny summers and sheltered bays offer several great beaches including Venice Beach, Huntington Beach, Malibu Beach and Santa Monica Beach.
Scuba divers are treated with a rich variety. Popular nearby offshore dive destinations are most of the Channel Islands but in particular Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, Anacapa Island and Santa Barbara. There are plenty of wrecks, both natural as artificial wrecks because of the large dive community. You can dive with sharks, seals, sea lions, through towering kelp forests, but also hard and soft corals are present with all their inhabitants such as nudibranch and decorator crabs. You can spot whales, but also large schools of halibut on their migrating tour.
